Built in 1903, the Garland Sugar Beet Factory was the primary economic activity for the town throughout the majority of the 20th century. Although the sugar factory closed in 1978, the tall towers still stand over Garland. However, several brick buildings that were once part of the factory have been torn down and some of those those bricks have found a new home inside of our barn.
The Green Barn?
Not only do we care about you, your friends, and your family, but we also care about our environment. In 2016, American Acres installed a 13 kW solar system with 48 panels on the south roof of our barn and since then, we've operated exclusively on solar energy, leaving a negative carbon footprint. As of July 2018, the solar energy we've produced is equivalent to planting 1,414.04 trees! Don't worry, one look at our outdoor areas and you can be sure we're busy planting real trees as well!
